Impressionism, or How Modern Art Began

Contemporary art causes a lot of bewilderment and resistance. It would seem that where are the Greek sculptures and temples, and where is Banksy? And how did we get from one to the other?

During all this time, the world has changed a lot: technologies have appeared, the pace of life has accelerated. But some things have remained the same. Art was and remains a mirror of time.

The Impressionists paved the path for all living artists. It was with Impressionism that art began to be called “modern”. In the lecture, we will look at this time: what the prerequisites and consequences were, what the world of artists looked like at that time, and what thoughts and ideas connected them.

За всё это время мир сильно изменился: появились технологии, ускорился темп жизни. Но какие-то вещи остались прежними. Искусство было и остаётся зеркалом времени.

Путь всем ныне живущим художникам проложили импрессионисты. Именно с импрессионизма искусство начинает называться «современным». На лекции рассмотрим это время поближе: какие были предпосылки и последствия, как выглядел мир художников в то время, какие мысли и идеи их связывали.
