Book club from Liberty “Free readings”- Meeting #2

During our new meeting of Free Readings we will discuss Daria Serenko’s book “I wish ashes for my home.”

The text is a prison auto-fiction: it is based on the real story of the imprisonment of Daria, a writer, activist, and coordinator of the “Feminist Anti-War Resistance.” Her story about her stay in a cell at the Tver Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is intertwined with reflections on dictatorship, the role of women during the war, emigration and how to continue to resist, even if it seems that there is no strength or hope.

The meeting will be led by Lera Babitskaya, a writer and literary manager. You will find all the detailed information about the meetings and books that we discuss in the Free Readings telegram channel.

Текст представляет собой тюремный автофикшн: в его основе реальная история заключения Дарьи — писательницы, активистки, координаторки «Феминистского антивоенного сопротивления». Её рассказ о пребывании в камере Тверского отделения ОМВД переплетается с размышлениями о диктатуре, роли женщин во время войны, эмиграции и — том, как продолжать сопротивляться, даже если кажется, что сил и надежды нет.
