
Performance Notes of an Emigrant

A performance by two artists who have studied the art of Russian-speaking emigrants for many years, who themselves unexpectedly had to leave their homeland.
Marina Goncharova and Nikita Karataev looked at the long-familiar works of famous emigrants and created their own story – today’s, and are sure that each of the viewers will find understanding, support, and maybe even consolation in these lines.
This is a story about people who lost their home, their homeland. Emigration broke someone, resurrected someone, but absolutely each of them (and us) became a new person.
Marina and Nikita are leading artists of the Maly Drama Theater in St. Petersburg, which is among the top 3 best theaters in Europe, along with the Piccolo Teatro in Milan and the Odeon Theater in Paris.
Everyone who finds themselves in emigration faces a large number of difficulties: everyday, spiritual, mental. Longing for home, fear of the future, confusion and a new world before us. In fact, many other famous emigrants experienced all this: Dovlatov, Brodsky, Tsvetaeva, Vertinsky, and now Pugacheva, Bi-2 – they all expressed all their pain through art.
If we look at their work, we will understand in many ways how we ourselves can cope with today’s difficulties. Come to get great pleasure from the depth and diversity of prose, poetry, songs and dances.
